Simon Pagenaud claimed his first Verizon IndyCar Series win of the year – and first of his career on an oval – with a victory in the Phoenix Grand Prix at Phoenix International Raceway. Pagenaud took the lead from Team Penske teammate Will Power after gaining the better part of a lap when Power pitted just before a caution flag waved, then managed the gap to win by some 9sec.
