Chevrolet “definitely disappointed” by Ganassi departure

Jim Campbell Chevrolet’s U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports has admitted that Chip Ganassi Racing’s switch to Honda power for next year disappoints him. The Ganassi-Honda deal,  which was announced this morning but is believed to have been signed at the penultimate race of the season in the first week of September, sees Chip’s team return to the manufacturer with which it is most closely associated in IndyCar. Ganassi’s four CART Indy car championships, 1996 through ’99, came with Honda power before he elected to switch to Toyota units, with which Scott Dixon won the 2003 IRL IndyCar title.
