Teams will have marathon day at IndyCar season opener

In order to minimize risk to crew and drivers, multiple IndyCar teams are choosing not to overnight in Texas for the race weekend.  They will instead have a single marathon day that will see stamina pushed to the limit. In addition to the condensed, one-day track schedule, teams are doing their best to keep all their personnel safe from exposure in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  This includes minimizing time away from home for the whole crew which adds to the unique challenges of this weekend’s race.
