Long Beach set for IndyCar deal extension
– The Long Beach City Council has voted to renew the city's agreement with the Grand Prix Association to continue hosting IndyCar events in the future.The current contract expired at the end of 2018, with the city council having hired an independent consultant to analyse the best option for the future, in which Formula 1 was evaluated.The Long Beach Grand Prix, founded in 1975, was a Formula 1 sanctioned event from 1976 to 1983, before CART/Champ Car (1984-2007) and IndyCar (2008-present) took over.Following a vote on Tuesday evening, the City Council continued to "unanimously" authorise a new long-term agreement to continue holding IndyCar events and its support...
