Howard gets third SPM car for Indianapolis
– Jay Howard has been recruited to pilot the third Schmidt Peterson Motorsport car at this year's Indianapolis 500, which is being backed by NASCAR legend Tony Stewart.Howard will drive the No. 77 Team One Cure-sponsored entry, run by SPM and backed by Stewart, to raise awareness of Colorado State University Flint Animal Cancer Center.Howard, who won the 2006 Indy Lights title with SPM, has participated in a handful of IndyCar events, most recently in 2011."I can't begin to tell you how honoured I am to have this opportunity," Howard said."I'm not one to give up on a dream and I have every bit of determination to make this a successful effort for Tony, Team One Cure...
