Carl Haas, who founded one of America’s most iconic race teams, has passed away after a long battle with Alzheimers. A statement on Carl Haas Automobile Imports’ website read that “Carl Haas’ incredible journey came to a peaceful end on June 29, 2016, at his home that he loved, surrounded by family.” Although Chicago-born Haas started off as a racecar driver, he sprung to true prominence when he became an importer of cars and parts from Europe – most famously Lola Cars from 1967 and Hewland gearboxes.
