Increasing speculation over IndyCar return to Surfers Paradise

The Gold Coast Bulletin has not only revealed plans by a consortium to negotiate for IndyCar’s return to Australia, it has triggered IndyCar into releasing a statement regarding its international plans. Following confirmation that Supercars (formerly V8 Supercars) would be continuing at the Surfers Paradise venue at least until 2019, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported that it had “seen documents giving a Coast-based consortium the right to negotiate for an IndyCar race in Australia.” The Gold Coast 600 Supercars event traditionally partnered with CART / Champ Car for the American series’ race Down Under.
