Jones blitzes Indy Lights rivals to grab IMS pole

Carlin Racing’s Ed Jones left it until his penultimate lap to shoot to the top of the time sheets and grab pole by three-tenths of a second for the first of the weekend’s Indy Lights races. The Indy Lights points leader, who scored his first win of the season at Barber Motorsports Park, shouldered aside Belardi Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist to lap the 2.439-mile Indianapolis road course at an average of 117.583mph on the 20th of his 21 laps. Rosenqvist was a similar gap ahead of the best of the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports cars, piloted by the other Barber winner, Santiago Urrutia, while Felix Serralles gave Carlin a second car in the top four.
