INDYCAR: Montoya paces opening practice
Juan Pablo Montoya opened this weekend's IndyCar round at Long Beach by leading a Penske 1-2 in the first practice session. Montoya established himself at the top of the sheets early on with a 1m08.3809s tour, and that was enough to keep him in command of the session until he found an additional couple of tenths later on to finish up at 1m08.1290s. For a while it looked like Foyt's Jack Hawksworth was on target to finish as best of the rest, but Will Power put and end to that when he reeled off a 1m08.3714s with his final flying lap. Hawskworth's time was still good enough for him to retain third fastest ahead of Josef Newgarden, with Takuma Sato, James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter-Reay...
