Barber WinterFest Action Called Off Due to Wintry Weather, Heavy Accidents

The plan for the Cooper Tires WinterFest for today involved two practice sessions, two qualifying sessions, and two races for USF2000 and Pro Mazda. Unfortunately, Old Man Winter had a different schedule in mind for the assembled Mazda Road to Indy teams at Barber Motorsports Park. With Wednesday's scheduled Indy Lights test already moved to March 3, the hope was that the weather would stay away long enough to get in the races. That hope was short-lived, at best. With temperatures negligibly above freezing, a worsening rain, and several inches of snow bearing down on Alabama, the conditions never allowed for much true running.
