Indy 500: 'It was a hard hit, but I'm fine,' Newgarden says

Josef Newgarden walked away from a vicious crash during the final hour of practice Thursday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Motoring through Turn 1 on his first hot lap, Newgarden's car snapped sideways, nearly hit the wall head-on and then got upside down as it slid on its side all the way to Turn 2. It was the second straight day an Indy car has been airborne – three-time winner Helio Castroneves flipped in almost the same spot on Wednesday and was not injured.
