Pietro Fittipaldi cleared to run remainder of IndyCar season less than three months after injury
Just short of three months after breaking both legs in an accident in WEC, Pietro Fittipaldi will return to racing in the Verizon IndyCar Series this weekend at Mid-Ohio. Fittipaldi’s clearance was confirmed Wednesday by Dale Coyne Racing. The 22-year old Brazilian and grandson of iconic racer Emerson Fittipaldi will run the remainder of the season in the #19 Dale Coyne Racing Honda after successfully completing his first test since the incident last week.
