Kimball secures first career pole

– Charlie Kimball set a track record in single-car qualifying on Friday to win his first ever IndyCar pole position. The American led a jumbled field that saw three other Ganassi cars in the top ten and a top-five start for Dale Coyne stand-in Tristan Vautier.Kimball's two-lap average pole speed was a blistering 222.556 mph around Texas Motor Speedway, just 0.050 mph quicker than his second-place team-mate Scott Dixon. Close behind will be the rest of the Ganassi squad with Tony Kanaan fourth and Max Chilton sixth.
