Rahal inherits Detroit 1 pole after DQ

Helio Castroneves took the pole position away from Graham Rahal on the final lap of qualifying Saturday morning and then IndyCar officials snatched it away from the three-time Indy 500 winner. Castroneves had pipped Rahal with a lap of 1:13.890 and was celebrating his fourth pole here when IndyCar officials informed him he'd lost his fastest lap and new track record because he didn't slow down for a caution flag. So Rahal, who also broke Simon Pagenaud's track record of 1:14:037 at Belle Isle with his RLL Honda at 1:13.960, was awarded the top spot for this afternoon's opening 70-lap race of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix doubleheader.
