Sato gets $2.5m, Alonso $300,000

– IndyCar has confirmed that Takuma Sato took home $2,458,129 in prize money after winning the Indianapolis 500, with retiree Fernando Alonso earning $305,805.Andretti driver Sato ran at the front throughout Sunday's race, getting the better of Penske rival Hélio Castroneves late on to become the first Japanese winner at Indy.Castroneves and Ed Jones earned $770,629 and $535,629 in second and third respectively.Scott Dixon was the event's fifth-highest earner, having stormed to pole position, before his frightening, early crash, splitting Max Chilton and Tony Kanaan on the list.Alonso pushed for victory on his Indy 500 debut, only for his hopes to be dashed by a Honda engine failure...
