Carpenter quickest, Alonso makes Fast Nine

– Ed Carpenter clocked the quickest time during a delayed and disrupted Saturday qualifying session for this year's running of the Indianapolis 500, as Fernando Alonso qualified for the 'Fast Nine'.Saturday's session, in which drivers compete for the leading nine places – in order to secure a berth for Sunday's pole fight – was delayed for several hours after inclement weather conditions.The truncated session meant each driver was permitted only one four-lap run, with their average speed determining the overall order.Carpenter's four-lap average delivered him a 230.468 mph, just under 0.1 mph faster than Andretti's Takuma Sato, with Ganassi's Scott Dixon third.Alonso ran...
