Indy 500 speeds stir Honda sandbagging claims

Honda's lack of spectacular speed has some of Chevy's biggest bullets asking whether the rival brand is sandbagging ahead of this weekend's run for pole position. As the defending winners of the Indy 500, Honda's stout engines and successful superspeedway aero kit had its drivers and teams pegged as the ones to beat this month at IMS, but a sudden drop in speed from Monday to Tuesday definitely piqued the interest of Team Penske's Helio Castroneves and Will Power. Asked if he thought the Honda Performance Development engineers were making full power available to its entrants, the three-time Indy 500 winner said, "Not right now."
