Andretti hopes speed sticks in days ahead

Marco Andretti is hoping that his field-leading 226mph lap on the opening day of practice for the Indianapolis 500 will give him an opportunity to work on refining his car rather than having to chase speed over the days ahead. Andretti opened his account at 226.338mph, just over 1mph faster than closest rival Scott Dixon. And while the opening day of practice is the first step on a long road, Andretti is confident that he has something to build upon.
