Power leads charge in tight Indy GP session

Will Power unofficially set the fastest lap on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course as the 2015 Indy GP winner and Team Penske went 1-2-3-5-8 in another tightly packed practice session for Saturday's IndyCar Grand Prix. With the morning cloud cover burned off, Power's fast lap at 1m07.684s (129.565mph) bettered his morning speed (1m09.3172s) and is almost a second faster than his 1m08.674s qualifying lap record set in the first round of 2016 knockout qualifying. Just like the morning session, the field was tightly packed – only 0.19 seconds separated Power from 22nd-fastest Ed Jones. The session was red flagged twice in the closing minutes.
