IndyCar revises weekend schedules, tire allocations, turbo boost

A series of format changes have been announced for the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series  “to deliver the most effective and entertaining on-track action for fans.” As Jay Frye suggested to Motorsport.com last December, IndyCar is altering its weekend formats at some events in 2017. There have also been changes to the rulebook and some technical regulations. Qualifying for the races at Phoenix International Raceway and Gateway Motorsports Park will be held on the same day as its Saturday night races, while the first day of the event will feature practice sessions, the second of which will occupy the same evening time slot as the following day’s race.
