IndyCar cockpit protection is a work in progress, says Dixon

Chip Ganassi Racing’s four-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon says he expects IndyCar’s improved overhead cockpit protection will be introduced for 2018 and is more likely to take the form of a screen rather than a ‘halo’. Dixon, who explained to Motorsport.com last March his worries over driver sightlines on ovals while using a halo device, said that similar issues with Formula 1’s prototype halo designs are what had caused delays in the system’s introduction.
