INDYCAR: Pagenaud tops St. Petersburg practice, Power crashes

Simon Pagenaud had a good opening round of practice Friday morning but teammate Will Power had a short one. Pagenaud posted the fastest time of the 21 cars with a lap of 1:01.729 for Team Penske while Power pounded the short stretch wall heading into Turn 9 on his fifth hot lap. "Good start, just got to keep improving," said Pagenaud, who begins his second season with Roger Penske in Sunday's St. Petersburg Grand Prix. Power was adjusting his brake balance when his Verizon Dallara-Chevrolet suddenly snapped right and the right-front suspension was badly damaged. It was also a good session for A.J.
