Colton Herta leads the way in Portland first practice

Rookie Colton Herta has had 2019 to rememeber. IndyCar's youngest winner set the pace again, leading the way in Friday's opening practice for the Grand Prix of Portland from Portland International Raceway.  Herta's fastest time stopped the clock with a best time of 57.4293 seconds, gapping second place Alexander Rossi by a mere 0.1 seconds and 0.2 seconds off of third place Scott Dixon. There were two main stoylines ahead of the session, a slick, slippery surface and some excellent pace from Honda.
