Josef Newgarden dominates to win conclusion to Alabama GP

Josef Newgarden put on a dominant display to win the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama after a heavily interrupted schedule forced the race to be run on Monday afternoon. With one hour and 15 minutes left on the clock after race officials called an end to proceedings on Sunday, Josef Newgarden led the field away and quickly pulled away from Sebastien Bourdais in second place at a fast pace. Newgarden stopped earlier than most of the other runners leading many to believe he was on a two-stop strategy which put him on course to battle with Bourdais and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the final laps as both drivers stayed out on the softer red alternate tyres to try and one-stop.
