Derani hopes Wickens' fast start will help his own IndyCar prospects
Brazilian speedster Luis "Pipo" Derani is drawing inspiration from IndyCar's hottest rookie, Robert Wickens, as a reminder of all that's possible for talented sports car drivers. Like Schmidt Peterson Motorsports' Canadian phenom, Derani spent his formative years in open-wheel racing and, as opportunities to move higher disappeared, turned to sports cars to keep his career on an upward arc.
