IndyCar hires new engine chief
Former Toyota Racing Development engineer Darren Sansum has joined IndyCar as managing director of engine development. In addition to working with TRD, which won the past two manufacturers' championships in NASCAR's Cup series, Sansum's CV also includes stints at Ford, Cosworth and Ilmor. In his new role at IndyCar, he will oversee engine development and competition between Honda and Chevrolet. "Darren is someone we targeted early on in the hiring process," said Jay Frye, IndyCar's president of competition and operations.
