Power smashes Gateway record for 50th career pole

Will Power took advantage of his final starting spot in qualifying and smashed the Gateway track record for his 50th career Verizon IndyCar Series pole, flirting with a 190mph average before finishing with a two-lap average of 189.642mph. "That's a number that I don't think I would have dreamed of reaching when I started my IndyCar career," he told IMS Radio about his career milestone. "Obviously driving for Penske has definitely been a big part of that, you're given great cars week in and week out. Very happy to get the Verizon 12 car on pole here at Gateway."
