IndyCar announces new Firestone deal
– IndyCar has announced a multi-year contract extension with tyre supplier Firestone.Firestone, a subsidiary of Bridgestone, returned to IndyCar racing in 1995, following a 20-year hiatus, and has been IndyCar's sole supplier of tyres since 2000.Its involvement in open-wheel racing dates back to the inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 1911."Firestone is part of the fabric of IndyCar and its commitment to evolving performance, innovation and safety in the series has been remarkable," said Jay Frye, President of Competition and Operations."The Firestone brand has been part of our sport for more than 100 years and continues to be an integral partner in the growth of IndyCar on...
