Indy 500 winners Rossi, Andretti, Herta receive ‘Baby Borg' trophies
100th Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi and his team co-owners Michael Andretti and Bryan Herta, received their miniature replicas of the prestigious Borg-Warner Trophy in Detroit. Afterward they spoke to David Malsher. BorgWarner, whose trophy has been presented to the winner of the Indy 500 since 1936 has, in addition, been crafting ‘Baby Borgs’ for the winners since 1988. These are set a on a marble base and carry a copy of the same sterling silver effigy of the winner that is applied to the 5’ 4” original trophy which weighs 110lbs, is valued at $3.5m and is on permanent display at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
