Dixon domination continues, but bizarre end to session

Scott Dixon’s final flying lap of Watkins Glen today broke the 146mph barrier and left his rivals gasping or suffering incidents in vain pursuit. The Chip Ganassi Racing-Chevrolet’s driver’s 29th lap of 1min22.8740sec set a 146.391mph average on the 3.37-mile roadcourse, eclipsing Team Penske-Chevrolet’s top runners Helio Castroneves and Will Power by 0.15-0.2sec. But the biggest stories came at the end of the session when both championship leader Simon Pagenaud and Tony Kanaan spun trying to improve their times on their final laps.
