Veach edges Indy Lights pole for Belardi
Zach Veach left it until his 11th of 12 laps to nail his fastest time and land pole at Road America, beating championship contender Santiago Urrutia by 0.0139sec. Veach delivered a 127.456mph lap to grab his first – and Belardi Auto Racing’s second – pole position of the 2016 season. Veach, who cruelly missed out on victory at the season-opener in St. Petersburg, is without his regular teammate Felix Rosenqvist this weekend, as the Swede is on DTM test duty for Mercedes-Benz in Europe. Yet Veach reported that his only problem with getting up to speed was overdriving until setting his fastest lap. Urrutia’s second fastest time at least ensured his Schmidt Peterson Motorsports car...
