Daly takes full blame for Newgarden shunt

Conor Daly has confessed his error on old tires is what triggered the shunt that has sent his former Indy Lights teammate Josef Newgarden to hospital. Daly had made his tires last longer than most of his competitors, and as they ducked into the pits, he had risen to the top five. However, Newgarden, who had stopped just two laps earlier, was rapidly gaining on him with fresh tires when he came to go around the outside of the Dale Coyne Racing-Honda through Turns 3 and 4. Daly was on the lower line which he believed was a contributory factor in the shunt, which occurred when his tail snapped out of line.
