Hinchcliffe fastest on first day of 500 qualifying

– James Hinchcliffe topped the first of two days of IndyCar qualifying at the track where he nearly lost his life a year ago. A late qualifying attempt vaulted the Canadian to the top of the charts with a four-lap average of 230.946mph, guaranteeing that he will start in the top nine for next week's race.
