Andretti Autosport finish 1-2-3-4-6 on first day of practice
Marco Andretti topped opening practice for the 100th Running of the Indy 500 with a 228.978mph lap that edged Carlos Munoz by just 0.0057mph. Their Andretti Autosport-Honda teammates Ryan Hunter-Reay and rookie Alexander Rossi completed the top four, with top laps in the 228 and 226mph brackets, respectively. 2008 Indy 500 winner Scott Dixon was best of the rest running a 226.835mph in the fastest of the Chevrolet cars, clocking fifth in the Chip Ganassi Racing #9. The reigning IndyCar champion’s last-minute time prevented Andretti Autosport from a perfect day, as their extra car for the 500, that of Townsend Bell, was sixth fastest.
