Power starts title defence with pole, track record

stormed to pole for the season-opening round of the Verizon IndyCar Series on Saturday, setting a new track record in the process.  The defending champion headed a Penske/Chevrolet sweep of the first two rows of the grid, leading his team-mates Simon Pagenaud, Hélio Castroneves and Juan Pablo Montoya.Snagging his 37th career pole position, Power has now started P1 in St. Pete five out of the last six years but has only won the race twice in that stretch.A tightly bunched field will be looking to dethrone the defending race winner, with Penske newcomer Pagenaud missing out on pole by just 0.03s.
