INDYCAR: Chilton bucks history with oval debut

Nigel Mansell knocked down the wall in practice at Phoenix and missed his oval-track debut in 1993. The year before at Michigan, Paul Tracy's coming out party with Roger Penske ended early, and painfully, as he broke his leg. Graham Rahal pounded the wall at Homestead in testing at Homestead in 2008 and had to forgo the season opener a couple days later. James Hinchcliffe's first foray into turning left wound up against the wall at Indianapolis in 2011. And Dario Franchitti began his IndyCar career in 1997 on the back of a wrecker at Homestead. "I crashed trying to get out of Gil's (de Ferran) way when he was coming up to lap me," recalled the three-time Indianapolis 500 winner....
