INDYCAR: No downforce change for Phoenix
Verizon IndyCar Series teams will go into this weekend's race at Phoenix International Raceway with the same downforce specifications used during February's Spring Training test. After the two-day test was completed, numerous drivers, team owners, and engineers offered input on the changes they felt would improve racing on the 1.0-mile banked oval. Everything from increasing downforce to decreasing downforce to increasing horsepower (to require lifting off the throttle into the corners) was pitched. IndyCar's competition department reviewed data from the test and, in concert with feedback from drivers, chose to stay with the high-downforce package and standard short-oval boost settings....
