Honda signs "multiyear extension" to IndyCar engine deal

Honda will continue to supply engines for the IndyCar Series for at least another two years after signing a "multiyear extension" to its contract. The Japanese manufacturer joined the championship in 2003, having previous supplied teams in the now-defunct CART series since 1994 - in which time it has racked up 217 wins, 10 of which came in the Indianapolis 500. Following a six-year spell as the sole engine supplier in IndyCar, Honda has faced competition from Chevrolet since 2012, and has also had to produce its own aero kit as of last season.
