Chevrolet hit with post-St Pete penalties

Chevrolet has been penalised 220 points for an engine regulation infraction following IndyCar's season opener in St Petersburg. IndyCar said on Monday that 11 of the 12 Chevrolet-engined cars underwent repairs following the race. Under rule 10.6.4.4 of the rulebook, 20 points will be deducted for every repaid that requires a component change. Chevrolet earned a total of 128 points in the opening race, but has been penalised 220. The manufacturer dominated the season opener, with Chevrolet-powered cars occupying the top six position.
