Power wins 50th career pole at Gateway
– Will Power set a track record en route to his 50th career pole in IndyCar's return to Gateway Motorsports Park. Power is riding a wave of momentum after an improbable win last week at Pocono and has now won six or more poles in four separate seasons.The Australian broke the 20-year-old lap record of 187.963mph, set in 1997 by Raul Boesel. Power's new quickest speed of 189.709mph came on his first qualifying lap before averaging 189.642 after his second.His effort also guaranteed a top-four sweep by his Penske team with points leader Josef Newgarden occupying the outside of the first row in front of Hélio Castroneves and Simon Pagenaud.Ed Carpenter was the best non-Penske qualifier...
