Pigot walks away from hard crash in warm-up

Spencer Pigot brought out a red flag halfway through the final warm-up session with a hard crash that will require building up a new chassis in order to compete in the Honda Indy 200. The 2015 Indy Lights champion walked unhurt after the accident. Pigot's No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevy snapped sideways out of the final corner, he corrected the slide, and as the car regained traction, it turned right and speared nose first into the cement wall. With the nose torn from the car, the hard contact continued into the Dallara DW12 chassis, which will require repairs to the carbon fiber bulkhead at a specialist firm in Indianapolis after the event.
