Lap limits in place for Honda Indy 500 teams

With the smoky expiration of Jack Harvey's motor during Fast Friday practice, Honda lost its fifth engine in seven days of running at Indianapolis. On Thursday, its teams received instruction to stick a predetermined number of laps each day to try and stem further detonations. It's believed the 18 Honda-powered entries for the 101st Indy 500 have been asked to limit the number of laps turned in practice per day in light of the unexpected but frequent reliability woes. As Harvey's failure after just 11 laps would suggest, reducing on-track activity has not cured the problem.
